Portraits with Personality – JM’s mentor projects Sjumilaskolan in Gothenburg

For one year JM together with the organisation Mentor has conducted a project on the school ”Sjumilaskolan” in Gothenburg. The project has been divided into two parts: the construction of a parkour course at Sjumilaskolans schoolyard, and ”My future residents.” In ”My future residents” the students got to examine the criterias that creates a city for everyone, in particular, students have been thinking about what they want out of their future residents

I want to have large windows.
My future residents will be bright. I do not like dark houses. Sweden is so dark, I’d rather stay in Monaco. I would not stay in the town center where there is too much noise. I do not like the sound of traffic. – Sabarr

Mentor Sweden is a nonprofit organization that works with mentoring for young people. They think that all young people in Sweden deserves a mentor, whether they are happy, sad, bored, passive or get A or F tests. All to all our young people to feel a strong belief in the future and choose to refrain from violence and drugs.

I want to stay inside the city.
In my future residents it does not matter if you look out on lot of cars. I want a small apartment with a French balcony. It is not so important with storage. – Halima S

I was contacted by Anna Maria Fuxén, Business Developer and Project Manager at JM, and was later commissioned to photograph a number of the students who had been involved in the project. It all ended up as a brochure and an exhibition that was visited and praised by Swedish Queen Silvia, who is one of the founders and promoters of the Mentor, and several of Gothenburg politicians.

I think a lot about the environment.
In my future residents, it is important that it is environmentally friendly and efficient heating appliance. It should be easy with the recycling and take little electricity. I want a good sized apartment with just enough furniture and a regular balcony. I prefer to live close to nature, woods and lakes. – Rooda

If you want to see more of the exhibition and when Silvia talks about my pictures you can watch it on Swedish television here!

Portrait of Ida

It has been pretty quiet from me lately. But do not think that I have nothing to show, on the contrary, I have lots of new beautiful pictures. It’s just the time to show them that is missing.

But I must start somewhere and here comes a couple of portraits I took at Ida few weeks ago. Want to see more of her, just to look at her blog where she and her sister writes about fashion and lots of other things (in Swedish though): fashion nerds.

Enjoy!

Summer is halfway full

I’m sitting in a rainy Gothenburg and it’s almost March. I look out into the gray and long for to the sunshine and summer warmth. It will soon be here, the heat, the light and all the wonderful weddings.

As a wedding photographer you work most Saturdays throughout the summer. Some Saturdays is booked up early and requested many times after that. Other little more seldom. Sometimes people get married on a Friday or during the winter. Then we can book on a short notice but a weekend in the middle of the summer is much worse. The first inquiries for summer 2015 have already started to come in.

So, do you have plans to put up a wedding this summer, spring or fall? Contact me! I have about half of the weekends free for 2014. And I’d love to shoot every weekend!

Are you getting married 2014?

The bookings for 2014 has started to come. So if you are planning your wedding in 2014 and especially in the summer, then it’s time to book your photographer.

There’s lots to think about for a wedding. Amazing good food, how to keep the drinks cold and bubbly. The location must be booked and maybe decorated. And the right wedding photographer must be found.

There are so many factors that make a photographer’s right for you. But if you want to book me, two things are more important than any other. That you like my photos and that we have fun together. Then we create the magic!

Preview of Maria and Johan’s autumn wedding in Växjö and Osaby in Sweden

I met Maria and Johan for the first time just over a year ago. At another wedding. And now we’ll meet again, and this time it’s their big day. And what a day. It was the first weekend with real autumn in the air but still green leaves on the trees. Maria was incredibly beautiful. She struggled bravely in the cold air with her bare shoulders. The flowers she had tied herself and her shawl was an old family garment used by several brides before.

The ceremony was held in Tävelsås church, a beautiful and light wooden church just outside Växjö. It was one of those ceremonies when even the photographers can’t hold back the tears. Very nice, beautiful and loving. Just like Maria and Johan.

Some of the portraits were taken at the still lake right beside the church. We also took the opportunity to take advantage of the beautiful forests around Växjö for more great pictures before the party continued on Osaby manor.
