The story of Sara & Craigs wedding is not a short story. And like so many long stories, it is best to start from the beginning. So here goes.
We, wedding photographers in Sweden, is in many ways a large groups of friends. Even if everyone don’t know everyone we know at least most. And among all of us, there are of course some that you look up to and admire very much. For me, Sonia Jansson is one of them. First separates herself by having a unique visual language and shoot things not many others see. And then, when I got to know her, I looked up to her at least as much on a personal level. An amazing person short.
For several years, I have seen and noticed the blog “Heja Abbe“, I have not followed it myself, but read on and off. But what I realized is that it is Abbes dad who writes about being a father to Abbe, a little guy with a heart problem. Last winter I found out that Sonia stood in an auction on Abbes blog, where all the money went to children’s heart research, I was almost jealous. What nice way to help such a good cause.
In the spring, me and Sonia became better and better friends and when I later found out that the wedding would be in my hometown, at Stora Mosskullen, an island outside Gothenburg, I did not hesitate one second to ask if I could be her assistant or second shooter at the wedding. Said and done, Sonia agreed to bring me and I was happy to join one of the photographers I admire in Sweden.
Now it’s time to talk about the day itself.
Sara & Craig lives in New York. Sara is from Gothenburg, Craig is from England but has lived a little bit everywhere in the world. Guests at the wedding were from all parts of the world, and you could hear everything from Portuguese to “Gothenburg-ish”.
This was not an ordinary wedding. It was an international party weekend. First on Friday, all met up for drinks and burgers at the Gothenburg nightclub Yaki Da.
On Saturday we started early. Sonia with Sara and I with Craig. Later we meet in the church at St Bridget’s Chapel and partying on the evening and night on the private island Stora Mosskullen in the middle of Gothenburg archipelago.
I had not met either Sara or Craig before Friday, so it was very exciting. But never ever have I as a photographer felt so welcome. So many hugs and warm words and the wonderful hospitality. It was a real privilege to go with both Sara and Craig. Being close to them in all the big emotions, all the laughs and all the tears of joy. It is simply indescribable.
When you read this, Sara and Craig. You are wonderful and I hope to visit you in New York sometime in the future. THANK YOU!
