Portraits with Personality – JM’s mentor projects Sjumilaskolan in Gothenburg

For one year JM together with the organisation Mentor has conducted a project on the school ”Sjumilaskolan” in Gothenburg. The project has been divided into two parts: the construction of a parkour course at Sjumilaskolans schoolyard, and ”My future residents.” In ”My future residents” the students got to examine the criterias that creates a city for everyone, in particular, students have been thinking about what they want out of their future residents

I want to have large windows.
My future residents will be bright. I do not like dark houses. Sweden is so dark, I’d rather stay in Monaco. I would not stay in the town center where there is too much noise. I do not like the sound of traffic. – Sabarr

Mentor Sweden is a nonprofit organization that works with mentoring for young people. They think that all young people in Sweden deserves a mentor, whether they are happy, sad, bored, passive or get A or F tests. All to all our young people to feel a strong belief in the future and choose to refrain from violence and drugs.

I want to stay inside the city.
In my future residents it does not matter if you look out on lot of cars. I want a small apartment with a French balcony. It is not so important with storage. – Halima S

I was contacted by Anna Maria Fuxén, Business Developer and Project Manager at JM, and was later commissioned to photograph a number of the students who had been involved in the project. It all ended up as a brochure and an exhibition that was visited and praised by Swedish Queen Silvia, who is one of the founders and promoters of the Mentor, and several of Gothenburg politicians.

I think a lot about the environment.
In my future residents, it is important that it is environmentally friendly and efficient heating appliance. It should be easy with the recycling and take little electricity. I want a good sized apartment with just enough furniture and a regular balcony. I prefer to live close to nature, woods and lakes. – Rooda

If you want to see more of the exhibition and when Silvia talks about my pictures you can watch it on Swedish television here!

”Mornington Hotel Vardagsgläntor 2” – A fantastic photo book

I realized the other day that I have not shown other than previews from one of my favorite jobs in 2013: ”Mornington Hotel Vardagsgläntor 2”.

Vardagsgläntor is Swedish for glade or opening of the weekday. A good description of a perfect place in between the obvious ones.

It is the second time that the Mornington Hotel Stravaganza Göteborg is publishing the book Vardagsgläntor, where hotel employees and a number of renowned guests pick and tell about their favorite places in Göteborg – places that are a little outside the main tourist areas. It is a fantastic book with really good tips. Even more fun is that the hotel has allowed each employee to be photographed in different styles. Each style is unique to them. There is everything from delicate pink to dirty rock and roll. I was the photographer and each spread is something new in both styles and text.

Here you see everyone from the manager to the cleaning lady. And even one of the ”guest writers” in the book. The red photo is of Nathalie, who works as a producer at GIFF (Göteborg International Film Festival) and is also hard rocking DJ.

The book is designed by Stina Thimren on Bilbao and stylist and makeup artist were Kristin Brulay with assistance of Tuva Holmlander and Carolina Berta.

Press Images for Restaurant Hoze

José is Gothenburg’s best Sushi chef. Perhaps even Sweden’s best. He runs on his own the very special restaurant Hoze in Gothenburg. He has been trained by a Japanese master and serves fantastic sushi and other totally incredible dishes. The fish he uses is almost always Swedish and Nordic, everything from herring to cod.

Metro gave him five stars and he is beginning to become a star among the Swedish chef’s. Do you get the opportunity to visit him because you will not regret it for one second.

I’ve taken a bunch of press photos of him and where you can not only see José but also his special knife and the Japanese Yuzu fruit.

Bygglogistik sponsors racehorse trainer André Eklundh

My customer Bygglogistik working on just that they’re called. Logistics at construction sites. Large buildings need someone who takes care of all shipments so that the right material is at the right time in the right place.

I have previously documented their work including Lindköpings University Hospital and the new Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. Last summer, I was off and climbed on the roof of the new stadium, and for photographer with a fear of heights, it was a very scarry and cool feeling.

Enough about history, now to today. Today Bygglogistik announced that they have signed a three year sponsorship deal with Team Eklundh and harness racing coach André Eklundh from Gothenburg. André is the coach of the newer generation in Sweden.

Last week I was visiting the stables and got to shoot Andre with one of his horses at Åby. It was a fantastic day with good weather and we got some really nice pictures as you can see.

One day the horses, a day wedding. Always fun!
